BSkyB has appointed Andrea Zappia as the managing director of its customer group, demonstrating a clear career path between News Corp’s various European pay-TV operations.
Currently vice president, sports channels, at Sky Italia, Zappia will replace Brian Sullivan who has moved to Sky Italia to become managing director. Zappia, who was previously vice president, marketing, promotion and business development at Sky Italia will take on responsibility at BSkyB for customer acquisition and retention across the company’s range of entertainment and communications products.
Commenting on the appointment, BSkyB CEO Jeremy Darroch said Zappia would bring a wealth of experience to the satcaster’s leadership team.
Prior to joining Sky Italia in 2003, Zappia held a variety of senior marketing roles at Fila, Ferrari and Procter & Gamble.
