Rovi Corporation has announced its support for Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV), the European initiative aimed at standardising access to advanced television services, such as catch up TV and interactive advertising. Rovi is looking to work with the HBBtv partners to encourage them to its TotalGuide EPG and programme database.
Rovi has today announced the expansion of its next generation media guide solution, adding content from 15 broadcasters in Germany, France and the UK, including ZDF, Five, Das Vierte, NRJ-12 and the ARD news programme Tagesschau.
It is also working with Dailymotion (user generated content), QTom (music videos), Playjam (gaming) and tunin.fm (radio). While some of the new partners cover multiple territories, others are content specific.
