The future of TVP Kultura, the longest-established publicly owned thematic channel in Poland, is looking increasingly in doubt.
Gazeta Wyborcza reports that the channel, which was launched five years ago, has seen its budget for 2010 cut from PLN30 million (€7.15 million) to only PLN5 million.
As a result, it will probably be no longer able to broadcast anything other than archive material from the beginning of next year.
Cutbacks, imposed by the previous management, are also likely to result in TVP’s other thematic channels cutting their in-house output.
