Poland’s leading DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat will place growing importance on the provision of additional services, according to its president, Dominik Libicki.
Speaking to Rzeczpospolita, he added that it does not rule out the possibility of offering TV packages over the internet – something it is prevented from doing so at present due to not having all the necessary distribution rights.
Cyfrowy Polsat recently launched a VOD service and has just begun trialling a mobile internet service that employs HSPA+ technology. It may also, added Libicki, shortly enter the mobile TV market, working alongside Info-TV-FM, which is currently operating a trial service ahead of a full commercial launch next year.
Furthermore, Libicki said that he expects the take-up of subscription TV in Poland to grow from 70% to 80%. In practice, this means there are still some 1.5 million potential pay-TV customers in the country.
