Vodafone Portugal has added its Vodafone Casa TV service to the Xbox 360, meaning that owners of the Microsoft gaming device can now use it to view live and on demand content from the Casa platform.
Customers will also be able to access shows recorded on their set-top box from the Xbox 360, even if the console is positioned in another room. Casa TV also integrates with the Xbox Live community, enabling users to have a live voice chat with one of their Xbox Live buddies while watching TV.
Additional software is required to run the functionality and is available at the one-off price of €9.90.
“In a highly competitive market, delivering a branded TV experience to the screens and devices consumers use the most gives our Mediaroom customers a real competitive advantage,” commented Ted Malone, senior director of product management in Microsoft’s TV, Video & Music business.
The technology is already available on both the Canal+ and BSkyB platforms.
The Vodafone Casa TV service is based on Microsoft Mediaroom and was implemented and customised for Vodafone Portugal by Alcatel-Lucent.
