The international Indonesian general interest channel Garuda TV has stopped delivering its programmes to Dutch cable operators. The move follows a decision by Ziggo to stop carrying the channel, which targets people of Indonesian descent in The Netherlands.
Garuda TV brought a mix of Indonesian programming ranging from documentaries, entertainment, lifestyle and TV series in their original version with Dutch subtitling. All major cable operators, including UPC, Ziggo and CAIW carried the channel, which was available as an a la carte option for €10.00 a month.
For the past few months, programming consisted mainly of repeats casting doubts about the future of the channel. As a result, Ziggo decided to remove the channel from its offer. Just a few days ago, the feed from Garuda TV to the other operators was also stopped. A spokesperson for UPC told the Dutch press it will stop offering the channel.
