The Russian DTH operator Orion Express has announced the introduction two new satellite receivers for its MPEG-4 based Continent TV platform, due to launch in Q1 2010.
Manufactured by China’s Coship, they will be the CSD-01/IR and CHD—2/IR, for viewing Irdeto-encoded SD and HD channels respectively.
Continent TV will be distributed by Intelsat 15 at 85 degrees East and offer subscribers both 10 FTA and a range of pay channels, some of which will be in HD.
It will be accessible with 0.6m dishes in European Russia and 0.8-0.9m dishes in the Urals.
Orion Express will also continue to use the Express AM2 satellite, located at 80 degrees East, as well as Express AM3 at 140 degrees East. Subscribers will be able to view programming from all three satellites with the two Coship receivers.
