The number of fixed broadband lines in Spain stood at 9.5 million as of the end of September, according to data published by the regulator CMT.
The figure, which was 8.1% up year-on-year, was equivalent to 20.6 lines per 100 inhabitants, and the number of new lines in September (65,843) was the second highest ever recorded.
DSL lines accounted for 7.7 million of the total and cable 1.8 million.
Telefónica accounted for 66% of net profits in the broadband sector in Q3, followed by alternative operators with 27% and cable operators with 7.2%.
