The Dutch commercial broadcasters SBS and RTL Nederland will each pay €9 million to the Dutch state to prevent further prosecution in the Call TV case. Production companies 2Way Traffic and Endemol will pay €4,250,000 and €1,420,000 respectively.
In September 2007, the Public Prosecutor launched an investigation against the broadcasters with regards to their Call TV games, which are deemed illegal under the Dutch law on gambling. The two broadcasters and their production companies stopped voluntary with the broadcasts, but have now agreed to each pay €80,000 to stop prosecution.
In addition, each party will pay millions of euros compensation for the profits they made on the broadcasts.
