Sky Deutschland is talking to all major German cable operators to expand the distribution of its seven HD channels. And according to local reports, the pay-TV operator is also willing to start talks again with Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV service T-Entertain.
At the moment, two major and two smaller operators are carrying all seven HD channels, Kabel Deutschland, Kabel BW, S+K Service Kabel and KMS München. Tele Columbus, Primacom, Net Cologne and some Wilhelm Tel networks are meanwhile carrying at least four Sky HD channels.
The online news service Digital Fernsehen says Sky is in talks with all other major operators. According to a Sky spokesperson, about 60% of all German cable subscribers now have access to all seven HD channels.
In a related development, German press reports suggest that Sky is again talking to T-Entertain. Distribution of the Sky bouquet was denied by the Munich based pay-TV operator after T-Entertain launched an aggressive promotional campaign for its Bundesliga football offer, which competes head-on with the Sky live football service.
