Cedar Point Communications has announced that it has joined forces with Germany’s largest cable network operator Kabel Deutschland KDG to offer VoIP services to subscribers using the Safari C3 Multimedia Switching System. They will be using SIP, an enabling technology for next-generation IMS networks.
“Cedar Point has been selected as the primary vendor for all new residential telephony deployments,” said Lorenz Glatz, CTO from Kabel Deutschland, in a statement. “Cedar Point has extensive experience in configuring and deploying VoIP networks and is a simple, cost-effective and reliable system to provide our customers with robust and stable voice services. Their solution will support our migration to PacketCable 2.0 where we will be able to create entirely new service offerings that fuse digital lifestyle services with mobile and fixed endpoints.”

Cedar Point has shipped more than five million Safari C3 lines to customers in the Americas, Caribbean and Europe. It supports up to 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic meter of space, incorporating all of the components that make up the voice switching infrastructure. It is being deployed for residential and business services by a diverse customer base that includes cable system operators, CLECs, wireless operators and universities.
