The Polish incumbent telco Telekomunikacja Polska (TP) faces an uphill struggle to make its DTH and IPTV services financially viable, according to an assessment published in Gazeta Prawna.
Analysts currently put its break-even target at 600,000 subscribers, which they believe will be hard to achieve given the high costs already being incurred by the France Telecom-backed company.
Production costs of TP’s two proprietary channels Orange Sport and Orange Sport Info alone are believed to be in the region of PLN50 million (€11.8 million).
As of the end of June, TP had a combined total of 239,000 DTH and IPTV subscribers.
