Most DTH platforms in Russia are now offering internet access, with the latest to introduce a service being Orion Express.
The service it just launched is being provide in conjunction with a company named Web Media Services, which uses the brand name HeliosNet, and is distributed by the AM3 satellite to Siberia and the Far East.
Quoted in Cableman, Orion Express’s head of marketing Elena Yachmennikova said that the operator expects around 10% of its subscribers to be interest in the service.
Significantly, unlike the internet services provided by the rival platforms Tricolor TV and Raduga, the one from Orion Express is paid for rather than free.
