The French government will launch a digital switchover campaign on Sunday, September 20. Its aim is to make people aware of the impending end of analogue broadcasts.
The information campaign is especially aimed at the 22% of the population that are unaware of the consequecnes of the switch-over.
Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, secretary of state of digital affairs, said the total costs of the publicity campaign is €20 million, but the total bill for all activities will mount up to €355 million.
This will include a subsidy for people with low incomes, free technical assistance at home for the elderly and handicapped and rebates for people who will have to switch to satellite reception because they cannot be reached by digital terrestrial broadcasts.
