A new thematic channel dedicated entirely to football is being launched by the Polish national commercial broadcaster Polsat today (September 17).
Known as Polsat Futbol, it will initially be distributed by the DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat.
Separately, data produced by AGB Nielsen Media Research and published by Wirtualne Media shows that another Polsat channel – Polsat Sport – was the most watched sports channel in Poland this year up to September 13.
It claimed an audience share of 0.76% (0.59% in 2008) and was followed by Eurosport with 0.60% (0.60%) and TVP Sport with 0.27% (0.07%).
Polsat Sport also account for the highest ad revenues in the sports channels sector, but at PLN29,652,335 (€7,169,431) they were considerably down on the full-year PLN120,426,995 total for 2008.
