Discovery Channel has named Dee Forbes as the new MD and executive vice president of its UK business.
Currently senior vice president and general manager Turner Broadcasting Europe, Forbes will take up her new role in January 2010, some 12 months after the departure of the previous incumbent Dan Brooke.
Forbes will report to Greg Ricca, CEO and President of Discovery Networks International and takes responsibility for Discovery’s largest single market outside the United States. It includes 12 pay-TV brands including Discovery Channel, DMAX and Real Time. She will also be responsible for the proposed DTT channel Quest, which was postponed in May.
Forbes spent 14 years at Turner in a variety of commercial roles including senior vice president of advertising sales, sponsorship and promotions for EMEA as well as general manager for the Nordic/Central and Eastern Europe and EMA regions.
