The Czech national transmission company Radiokomunikace (CRa) has expressed an interest in operating more DTT multiplexes.
Quoted in an interview in Lidove noviny reported in Digizone, its director Kamil Levinsky said that the company’s objectives are dependent on the demands of television.
At present, Radiokomunikace has its own multiplex and also provides technical services to ones operated by Czech Television (CT) and the Czech Digital Group (CDG). There is also a fourth multiplex in the Czech Republic, operated by Telefónica, which is still in test mode.
The law would have to be changed for Radiokomunikace to become even more actively involved than it is at present, and fears have already been expressed about the creation of a monopoly-type situation.
TV Nova, the Czech Republic’s leading broadcaster, would meanwhile also like to secure its own DTT multiplex.
