Hitron shows new range video gateways

September 12, 2009 16.37 Europe/London By Robert Briel

IBC 2009 – Amsterdam. Hitron Europe will be showcasing its latest range of video gateways, which enable flexible IPTV distribution over HFC networks to IP enabled STBs. Already deployed in the influential Asian market, Hitron products will soon be launched with a number of North American operators.

Hitron’s video gateways use techniques such as EdgeQAM and Hitron’s DOCSIS technology to provide operators with the best possible use of bandwidth allocation in the delivery of their data and video services.

Rudy Zijlstra, CTO of Hitron Europe GmbH, commented in a statement: “This setup enables the operator to provide high speed internet, as well as cost effective video distribution to simple STBs. All the STB needs to understand is traditional IPTV and the cable modem will take care of finding the correct stream on the network, based on information it receives from the channel line up server. This represents a step change in the way IPTV services can be deployed.”

White Paper: Why Wi-Fi 7 is critical for ISPs in the gigabit+ era

Today, consumers are increasingly using bandwidth-intensive and latency-sensitive workloads, such as 4K and 8K streaming, online gaming, and AR/VR applications.
