IBC 2009. WebTView and Pirelli Broadband Solutions have announced that the WebTView Platform has been selected for Pirelli’s set-top boxes. WebTView’s software platform specializes in automatic scanning of the internet to build a normalized and unified internet video catalogue.
This video catalogue is verified in an on-going basis and shown on Pirelli STB’s user interface. The platform’s mapping and transcoding capabilities enable Pirelli STBs to play any video format regardless of its original format.
“With today’s growing demand for internet content, including TV shows and online videos generated by numerous studios, WebTView empowers consumers to easily search and watch TV- quality videos originated on the internet from their big screen TV,” said Eli Fux, CEO and co- founder at WebTView, in a statement.
“Our partnership with Pirelli will provide WebTView’s and Pirelli’s customers with the opportunity to deliver new and exciting internet video content on their subscribers’ TV.”
“We are delighted to include WebTView’s state-of-the-art software engine as part of Pirelli’s Epicentro software platform for multimedia set top boxes,” said Corrado Rocca, senior VP, Research and Development at Pirelli Broadband Solutions.
“High Quality and HD internet video content normally accessed through the limited viewing experience of the PC screen, now becomes available on the TV screen through the combination of Pirelli’s hybrid multi-platform set top boxes with the search and classification capabilities of the WebTVview’s engine”.
