Hungary’s Magyar Telekom is cutting back on its FTTH rollout due to the current economic crisis.
Speaking to the local press, its deputy CEO János Winkler said that the incumbent telco would connect 165,000 homes to its high-speed fibre optic network this year, as opposed to the 200,000 that had originally been planned.
The cost of connecting each home to the FTTH network is put at HUF50,000 (€181.3), and Magyar Telekom is aiming to secure around 17,000 subscribers to its services by the end of the year.
