Czech stations address digital problems

September 3, 2009 09.39 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The leading Czech broadcaster TV Nova and publicly owned Czech Television (CT) have joined forces to overcome problems associated with the transition to digital broadcasting.

They have submitted a number of proposals to both the Czech Telecom Office (CTU) and the national transmission company CRa related to the transition in the areas of Usti nad Labem, Liberec and Plzen.

Drafted in consultation with Prima TV and other stakeholders, they suggest the speeding up of the digitisation process in Usti nad Labem.

The transition to digital broadcasting is already well under way in the Czech Republic. It is being undertaken on a region-by region basis, with Prague having been ‘all digital’ since spring and Plzen set to follow this autumn.
