Zurich-based Cablecom has said it will take the name of its parent UPC at some point over the next year. It is hoped the rebranding will represent a clean break for the company that has come in for criticism locally for its handling of analogue switch-off.
The UPC hand is already firmly on the tiller. Cablecom this week confirmed the launch of its 100 Mbps broadband service in Zurich, Bern and Winterthur, which will take the Fiber Power brand used in other UPC territories.
Signs that Cablecom would be brought under the UPC wing were evident last December when long standing MD Rudolf Fischer stood down to later be replaced by Eric Tveter.
