ADB has given further details of the digital set-top box it has launched in the Italian market for the free-to-view platform Tivù Sat.
As revealed in Broadband TV News on July 23, ADB along with Humax and Telesystem, are the first companies to bring product for the RAI, Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media venture to market. Using the i-CAN brand it will be distributed in retail outlets through ADB’s distribution partner ZAP. It is the first satellite product from ADB to be deployed in Italy. The company has previously enjoyed success with DTT product, due in part to its expertise in the MHP middleware.
Alberto Sigismondi CEO at Tivù Sat said he was pleased to have the involvement of ADB. “The i-CAN brand is well known and trusted by Italian consumers, and therefore we are sure that this new satellite solution will be welcomed by the market. ADB’s product will be amongst the first products on the shelves and comes with the Tivù Sat smart card so that viewers can receive content straight away”.
The i-CAN1110SH has two smart card slots, embedded MHP, and HDMI connectivity. It also supports Tivù Sat’s seven-day programme guide.
ADB also says the company goes above and beyond the European Code of Conduct on energy consumption, providing sub-1W automatic passive stand-by mode, and sub-6W active stand-by.
