Romania’s National Audiovisual Council (CAN) has granted a licence to Vox News to launch what will be the country’s third national news network.
The station is owned by Sport Channel and is expected to be on-air before the end of the year. With Antena 3 and Realitatea TV already well established, Vox News is planning to concentrate on social affairs in a country that station director Emil Jascau told the English-language Romanian Times has been through a period of transition over the last 20 years.
Sport Channel says it is in advanced carriage negotiations with platforms including UPC and RCS/RDS.
