Tandberg Television is to give the European premiere to its device-aware back-office for multiplatform TV. It gives operators the ability to exploit customer relationships across the three screens of TV, PC and mobile.
The Ericsson company says the technology will help meet the challenge of re-using subscriber management and billing systems, content distribution and asset management systems, and enable new services to subscribers. In the process subscribers will be given a seamless viewing experience across multiple platforms.
The latest version of the Emmy award–winning OpenStream digital services platform adds device awareness to enable operators to leverage an existing investment onto multiplatform TV. It also supports VOD deployments on both MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 set-tops.
Keep an eye out for a demonstration of “session-shifting” that enables consumers to pause their content on one device, say the TV, and pick it up on a PC or mobile phone.
