Latens is launching the latest iteration of its ECO Cable Gateway that combines a content delivery framework with content protection technology.
Latens ECO Cable Gateway is designed to maintain the cable operator’s position as a high value content aggregator. It creates a fully IP-based environment that allows operators to offer net generation services across a home network including whole home recording.
New services could include VOD, YouTube, Flickr and Twitter integration; the jury is still out on whether the increasing popularity of such social media applications are threat or opportunity to the cable sector.
The new release also includes series linking, on screen messaging and a new user interface.
The content is protected by Latens’ own software based conditional access system.
