The Polish commercial broadcaster Polsat is still preparing to launch film, children’s and youth thematic channels despite the current economic crisis, according to its owner Zygmunt Solorz-Zak.
Speaking to Gazeta Prawna, he added that the first two of these channels are likely to make their debuts by the end of this year.
Solorz-Zak also spoke with some concern about the current state of the ad market in Poland, with some broadcasters facing reductions in revenues of up to 20%.
Although Polsat is at present not having to make cuts, there are already worrying signs in the marketplace, such as a sharp fall in the cost of advertising.
Solorz-Zak in addition said that Polsat is likely to start investing in the programming side of the internet in the next year or two.
