Vodafone Portugal has launched an IPTV service, Vodafone Casa TV, offering over 100 channels in direct competition with other platforms including Cabovisão, MEO and ZON TV Cabo.
Initially, the TV service will only be available to existing DSL customers, but a full rollout will take place in September. As a promotional gimmick, the basic tier of 55 channels is available free of charge to all broadband customers of Vodafone Casa until the end of the year. From January, the 55-channel basic pack will cost €39.90 for the full triple play offer with broadband access and telephony.
The full IPTV line-up is over 100 channels including 8 HD channels, with Sport TV HD, Eurosport HD, National Geographic HD and Disney Cinemagic HD. Vodafone Casa TV also includes a PVR with 280 hours of recording capacity, pause TV functionality, catch-up TV, networking with PCs and multiple set-top boxes, and a video-on-demand service with hundreds of movies.
An extended tier of 85 channels costs €9.00 monthly. Additionally, premium channels are available including four TVCine channels (€ 15.00), three channels of Sport TV (€23.90 or €26.40 including Sport TV HD), a bouquet of Globo channels (€9.98) and others ranging from Disney Cinemagic to Hustler TV.
