The Polish transmission company EmiTel expects to invest around €100 million on the digitisation process in the next 5-7 years.
Quoted in Wirtualne Media, its president Przemyslaw Kurczewski added that the greatest costs are likely to be incurred in the launch of the country’s first DTT multiplex, due to take place this September.
EmiTEl, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the incumbent telco TPSA, will be operating the first multiplex and will like to also operate the others.
While a frequency tender for the second one is due to be held this September, it still remains unclear as to the final number of multiplexes Poland will have.
Kurczewski made clear that EmiTel expects to pay for the investment from its own funds.
