The total number of Dutch digital cable households has surpassed two million. With a 50.2% market share, cable is now the number one provider of digital TV in the country.
There are 4,155,00 digital TV homes, according to research by Telecompaper, and the total number of TV households is 7,950,000.
With a 72.4% market share, cable is also leading the total TV distribution market. Satellite is the runner-up with 25% of the digital TV market and 13% of the total TV market. The sole DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliiet has 840,000 subscribers.
KPN’s DTT platform Digitenne serves 790,000 homes, and the incumbent also has 45,000 IPTV customers. KPN’s share of the digital TV market is 19.3%, and 10.5% of the total TV market. Tele 2 has 195,000 IPTV customers.
With 1,118,000 digital homes, Ziggo is the largest digital TV platform. The operator added 58,000 digital homes in the first quarter.
UPC meanwhile had 670,500 digital subscribers at the end of Q1, representing a growth of 21,500 during the quarter.
