The widespread distribution of Slovak channels in the Czech Republic, and indeed vice-versa, could soon come to an abrupt end.
Digizone reports that Mac TV, the operator of the Slovak national commercial station TV Joj and movie channel Joj Plus sent a letter to Czech cable companies on June 5 demanding them to stop carrying its services within 30 days.
According to the company, none have the right to distribute the services in the Czech Republic.
The move has opened up a can of worms, as a large number of Slovak services are distributed in the Czech Republic and vice-versa, apparently in most instances without any agreements (including copyright) in place.
