The Slovak sports-oriented public channel STV3 (‘Trojka’) has run into financial difficulties.
According to Medialne, one of the options being considered is taking it off the air during July and August, though not permanently, as STV will be required by law two operate four channels, two of which are thematic, following ASO in 2012.
Trojka was launched amid much fanfare ahead of the Beijing Olympics last year and is understood to have offered – at least initially – some programming in HD.
Its financial problems stem from STV not having yet received a subsidy of €20 million.
