Further details of the financial difficulties faced by Romania’s RCS/RDS, one of the leading companies in Central and Eastern Europe’s TV industry, have begun to emerge.
According to ZF, it has placed its headquarters in Bucharest as collateral for the repayment of loans totalling $13.6 million (€9.7 million).
RCS/RDS is the leading cable operator in Romania in terms of subscriber numbers and operates the DTH platform Digi TV both there and in five other CEE countries.
Its turnover in 2008 amounted to $700 million, with Romania and Hungary the most lucrative markets.
