Cellcast has said the UK’s “unprecedented economic contraction “ has led to declining margins on its participation TV services broadcast over the Sky Digital platform.
In a statement detailing its results for the year ending December 31, 2009, the operator of Sumo TV says it is looking to expand the distribution of its output over cable and other satellite platforms.
The company also faces uncertainty over the Ofcom review of participation TV services, originally expected to conclude in May 2008, but now not anticipated to report until the end of 2009 at the earliest.
Last year’s sale of two EPG positions to Discovery Channel netted Cellcast £1.2 million, which helped compensate for losses in Asia, and deliver pre-tax profits of £180,000. This compares to a loss of £2.16m a year earlier.
