Helsinki is hosting a conference this week on the usage of the 790-862 Mhz frequency band in the Baltic region.
According to Verslo Zinios, half of this band is currently used in Lithuania for digital TV services, with the remainder left empty as it is designated to the Russian military.
It is hoped that Russia will free up this band so it can be used by both itself and its neighbours neighbours for the delivery of mobile internet services.
A total of 10 countries will be hoping to find a resolution to the issue at the meeting in the Finnish capital.
Although the ITU has designated 790-862 Mhz to be used for mobile telecom services in Europe, it is, as in Lithuania, currently also employed by DTT.
