The Bulgarian channel Balkanika Music Television has seen a huge increase in subscribers in the last two months, adding a total of 3.5 million in several countries.
Novinite points out that aside from distribution deals announced in the last few days in Romania (UPC) and Slovenia (Planet 9), the vast majority (3 million+) have been on cable networks in Germany. The service will soon also launch in Austria and Switzerland.
Cable and satellite delivered Balkanika is owned by Sofia-based Fan TV and made its debut in August 2005.
Offering music from the Balkan states, it is distributed by Eutelsat W2 and already has extensive coverage of Bulgaria, Romania and the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
