Russia may soon launch its first weather channel.
According to Satkurier, Alexander Bedritsky, the president of the country’s Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet), has come out in favour of such an idea, pointing out that such services already exist in a number of countries around the world.
Although a weather channel was first mooted five years ago, it never materialised due to the high costs involved.
It is estimated that to start such a service would now cost $40 million (€28.6 million).
