A Fast Awakening

May 25, 2009 06.29 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

ANGA CABLE 2009 – COLOGNE. Alticast, the maker of the alticaptor MHP/OCAP middleware, is launching its AwakenTV ‘FastMHP/tru2way’ Graphical User Interface at ANGA Cable.

It promises faster remote response times and “a quantum leap in the viewer experience on digital TVs/HDTV” through enhanced video presentation, audio, graphics, and interactive internet applications.

Consumers are promised by Alticast that its FastMHP/tru2way (GEM) application, “delivers instantaneous response from the remote control, such as rapid channel tuning capability of around 0.03 sec”.

It adds: “This eliminates slow digital channel change response times, while offering the highest-quality GUI manipulation in the industry”.

AwakenTV also provides an intuitive Virtual Channel Navigation. When used with Alticast’s altiExcite video mosaic EPG, this enables operators to incorporate services such as VOD, PVOD, NVOD, PVR, MP3 and interactive TV, as well as a framework for the seamless delivery of games portals, widgets, twitter and other social networking interfaces onto the screen.
