ANGA CABLE 2009 – COLOGNE. The Paris based satellite operator Eutelsat will show its Tooway satellite broadband service at this year’s ANGA.
Together with local resellers Internetagentur Schott and skyDSL, it will use the message ‘DSL Everywhere’ (Überall DSL), offering internet access at download speeds of up to 2 Mbps to private users and small business owners, primarily in DSl whitespots.
With the launch of its KA-SAT spot beam satellite next year, Eutelsat expects to compete more effectively with DSL as it will have the ability to up access speeds to 10 Mbps.
Eutelsat is also looking to unveil its plans for new channels and additional services for its German KabelKiosk satellite to cable distribution platform.
One service it hasn’t been able to retain for the new season is Germany’s Bundesliga football matches. This may sway some independent cable operators to get their programming feeds from Sky Deutschland instead.
