Miniweb has signed an agreement with the AIM-listed video search engine Blinkx to add video search, syndication, recommendations, targeting and personalisation as part of its online services platform.
The Blinkx search engine currently covers around 35 million hours of content. Although its brand is largely unknown outside of the conference halls, partnerships have been established with around 450 broadcasters, media companies and private video libraries.
Miniweb is currently available on Sky Digital, offering an alternative to the Red Button for broadcasters such as the shopping channel JML. The agreement adds Blinkx functionality to the Miniweb platform, rather than offering the search facility to the Sky audience, at least until such a time as the satcaster is also broadband enabled.
