Virgin Media is to cut 320 jobs in the West Midlands as part of plans designed to save the cablenet £120 million by 2012.
The reduction in job numbers is part of last November’s announcement to reduce the company’s headcount by 2,200 jobs, representing some 15% of the workforce.
Virgin plans to close its help centre in Brierley Hill, Dudley. However, workers have been told that 150 new positions could be created as part of plans to centralise its technical support services at the site.
A 90-day consultation period is now underway.
