The Carphone Warehouse Group subsidiary TalkTalk has agreed to acquire Tiscali’s operations in the UK for £236 million (€266.6 million).
As a result of the deal, which is subject only to EU competition authority clearance and Tiscali obtaining formal approval pursuant to its debt restructuring plan, Talk Talk will become the UK’s largest residential broadband provider, with around 4.25 million subscribers.
Sky withdrew from talks with Tiscali in Q4 2008, when the Italian ISP was understood to be asking £450 million for its UK operations.
