MTV may expand its presence in Russia, where it operates in partnership with Prof-Media.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Bhavneet Singh, MTV’s MD and executive VP for emerging markets, said the Viacom-owned company would like to introduce more of its brands in the country “by building more presence with Russia-specific services across all available platforms.”
This could in practice mean adding such channels as Comedy Central and Spike to those, such as MTV and Nickelodeon, it already offers in the country.
It would also involve making more channels available over the internet and mobile phones.
Russia was one of the first countries in CEE to launch a localised version of MTV.
The last leading markets to do so will be the Czech Republic/Slovakia and Bulgaria.
