Poland ended 2008 with 4.4 million broadband internet subscribers, or 6.5% more than a year earlier, according to a report on the telecom market published by the country’s Ministry of Electronic Communications (UKE).
Of these, the majority (2.6 million, up 11% on 2007) did so via xDSL rather than cable modems.
The total value of the internet market in Poland in 2008 amounted to PLN2.56 billion (€576.4 million), while that of the telco market as a whole stood at PLN48.6 billion.
The report also notes the growing popularity of triple play services offered by Polish cable operators.
