The Spanish production company Mediapro is to launch a new terrestrial channel called Gol TV that will offer pay-per-view (PPV) matches from La Liga. They will be available for one euro per game.
“We’ll start digital terrestrial broadcasts with payment at the start of next season of the league, which begins the last week of August,” said Jaume Roures, CEO of Mediapro.
All matches will be broadcast in HD with Dolby Surround sound. “The challenge will be to explain viewers how to access the new service and the advantages it offers,” according to Roures.
Gol TV also plans to show other matches from countries including Italy, France and Argentina as well as the Champions League.
Gol TV will replace Mediapro’s Hogar 10 channel. The company also owns and operates La Sexta.
