New football partner for Deutsche Telekom

April 24, 2009 08.03 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Deutsche Telekom has announced that the production firm Constantin Medien will be its new partner for the live coverage of the Bundesliga football games.

Under the name ‘Liga Total’, the two companies will present all 612 games in HD quality to the IPTV subscribers of the Telekom Entertain service. Until now, just a few games were recorded and shown in HD.

The new cooperation will start with the 2009/10 season. In the past few years, Premiere was the production partner of the telco’s IPTV service, but the operator wanted its own identity with the broadcasts rather than the ‘powered by Premiere’ branding.

Constantin Medien will also produce a dedicated Bundeliga football channel for mobile TV, which will not only be available to Deutsche Telekom subscribers but also to those of other platforms.
