UPC is slashing the cost of its internet access service in Romania, making it available at 50% of the current fees charged for a period of six months.
The offer, which applies to all three internet packages, offering speeds ranging from 1 Mbps to 20 Mbps, requires customers to sign one-year contracts. UPC ended 2008 with 237,300 internet subscribers in Romania, or 30% more than 12 months earlier.
Data produced by ANACOM indicates that this gave it a 9% share of the internet market.
RCS/RDS had the most connections (800,000, equivalent to a 32% markets share), followed by Romtelecom (650,000, 26%).
