Confusion surrounds the possible launch of pay DTT services in Spain.
El Pais reports that the Ministry of Industry made an announcement in which it said that applications to operate such a service would have to be made to the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Society (SETSI).
They would then be assessed on an individual basis. However, only hours later the ministry was forced to backtrack following complaints that the procedure had not yet been approved by the Council of Ministers.
El Pais points out that there is no real consensus as to the introduction of pay DTT services in Spain.
While La Sexta looks forward to such a move, Prisa, the owner of Digital+, has criticised the confusion in the government’s audiovisual policy.
