Sky has launched a Remote Record application on the Apple App Store for its Sky+ product.
The free application makes it possible for iPhone users with either a regular or HD Sky+ receiver to set recordings on their set-top box wherever they are in the world. Customers can browse listing by time, day or programme name, and select programmes to record. Once a recording has been requested a message appears confirming the booking.
The Sky+ Remote Record app debuted in the Apple App Store on April 1, just days after the launch of a similar product by News Corp stablemate DirecTV.
A further Remote Record innovation is the recently launched online reminder service that continually scans TV listings for viewer selected programmes and issues an email reminder when favourite movies or TV series are about to be screened.
