Sogecable remains by far the leading provider of pay-TV services in Spain, though its market share is falling.
Data produced by the regulator CMT shows that it accounted 50.6% of the country’s 4,021,839 pay-TV subscriber total in Q4 2008, down from the 54.2% it claimed in Q1 2008.
ONO, in second place, accounted for 25.8% of the market at year’s end, followed by Telefonica with 15.2%.
Sogecable claimed an even higher share of revenues in Q3 2008 (€393.81 million, or 74.6% of the total) in the pay-TV sector, though again its share was down from the 77.6% in Q1 last year.
ONO was again in second place with 11.9%, followed by Telefonica with 8.4%.
